Brief Course Descriptions:

All courses teach the precautionary measures, principles, and benefits associated with these practices. Observe and practice under Karyn’s guidance.

1. Nasya, Karna Purna Therapies, and Dr. Lad’s Energy Balancing Sequence (Ayurvedic cranio-sacral):
Internal application of medicated herbal warm oil in the ears and nostrils. Learn how to activate the five great elements that exist around the nostrils and in which direction to apply the oils.

2. Abhyanga Therapy (Ayurvedic Oil Massage):
Warm anointing and application of warm doshic and seasonal organic oils on the body using the authentic principles, sequences, terminal clearance, and honoring the lines and circles along the body, pacifying vata, and grounding the client.

3. Sacred Stone Shirodhara Therapy:
This treatment provides a platform for warm oil to flow in a steady stream gently over the third eye located on the forehead and over the top of the head (crown chakra). This ancient therapy uses hot and cold stones on the client to help regulate the temperature of the oil. Shirodhara is a profound, mind-melting, and sacred treatment that utilizes medicinal Ayurvedic oils, often preceded by a massage. Equipment will be supplied for practice.

4. Intro to Sacred Stone Facial Marma Point
(including head, shoulders, neck & feet): As a form of contract hydrotherapy, I teach how to alternate chilled snow-quartz and warm, textured, and heated smooth granite mineral composite sea stones as extensions of my hands and heart and tools for massage, healing, rejuvenation, and beauty. Marma points are junctions of consciousness where the elements vata, pitta, and kapha converge. They are doorways into the physical body and energy body. We utilize these sacred points for both analysis and remedial measures. During this therapy, marma points on the upper body are awakened, providing more vitality to the entire body, stimulating circulation, and imparting a rosy glow to the face.

5. Garshana Therapy:

Learn a step-by-step sequence taught by Dr. John Douillard, called garshana therapy, using raw silk gloves for friction massage. Other restorative applications include massage, energy work, and applying fresh lemon and salt to the feet to encourage systemic detoxification, as the feet are the most active terminal exit point for toxins and pain in the body. The other applications may include muds, honey, herbal oils, and other materials to aid in removing impurities, stimulate both arterial and lymphatic circulation, and calm the central nervous system, promoting a blissful sensation. Specific marma points are located and activated in this session with gentle touch, along with components of cryotherapy, to create homeostasis and balance in the body through the steam. The steam is a thermo-hydrotherapy produced by a steam canopy that fits over the massage table.

6. Kati Basti Therapy, aka warm oil pooling:
Learn how to create a dough ring and reservoir on the lower back (lumbosacral region) using a dough made from black gram flour or whole wheat flour. Warm medicated herbal oil (or ghee) is then slowly poured into this reservoir and retained for a specified period. This can also be applied to any body part, but is especially helpful to the knees, spine, and heart.

7. Complete Body Marma Point Therapy using Smokeless Moxibustion:
Much like acupressure or acupuncture, marmas are like small “windows” on the skin’s surface and subcutaneous layers, acting as mystical junction points between body, mind, and spirit. They are the spaces between the relative world and the unified field of all possibilities. Activating marma points enables light and prana to enter the body, thereby transforming the physiology and biochemistry.
